We caught up with Zane Beyers to hear about the gilt that taught him the value of patience and practice in the barn.

Tell us a little bit about your champion:
My gilt’s name is Hugs. I got her from Mr. Platt. She got a little cranky at times, but I enjoyed showing her.

Who is somebody that helped you achieve this win?
I couldn’t win without help from Bryleigh and Dad. Dad told me what to do, and Bryleigh showed me how to do it.

What was the most challenging homework you had to make up?
Social studies — lots of reading about things that don’t really interest me.

What was a challenge you had to overcome with your champion or at the show?
It took lots of patience and practice at home to keep her moving at the right speed as she got bigger.

What’s your go-to snack in the snack tub?
Trail mix is my all-time favorite snack.
