We Caught up with Mr. Wade Richey exhibitor of the Grand Champion Market Barrow at the 2024 Oklahoma Youth Expo. Learn more about Wade below…

What was one difficult challenge you faced to get this win?
We showed a lot of animals. Sheep, gilts, and even a Phoenix set. So probably just finding enough time to work with all of my animals as much as I needed to.

What is one thing you dislike the most about showing pigs?
Dislike? Nothing I love it, but maybe cleaning pens.

One thing you enjoy the most:
Walking them at home and the process of getting them ready.

Something new you tried:
We fed Primo feed. It was awesome except every time we feed the pigs scream because they like it so much.

Besides being named Grand Champion, what was another memorable moment for you?
Either getting my gilt in the sale or being 3rd in sheep showmanship for my division.

Somebody you look up to:
Sayde Allen- because she has become one of my good friends in the sheep barn. She wins a lot, but she is also a great person and works really hard. 

Favorite show product:
My dad doesn’t help me a lot when I do showmanship so I use waterless shampoo to get my pigs clean and ready.

What playlist do you have blaring in the barn?
I’m a huge Cheifs fan so I love the song Red Kingdom.
