THE RECAP – Clint Schwab – National Western Stock Show Judge
We caught up with Mr. Clint Schwab after he judged at the 2025 National Western Stock Show. Check out his thoughts below…

What breed stood out as the toughest and deepest?
The crossbred division happened to be the deepest, but the Berks and Hamps also stuck out in my mind this year at NWSS.

What’s one thing you wish this generation of showmen needs to be more aware of?
I’d like them to keep in mind that many of the barrows that they are showing have sisters out there that are creating the next generation – so we should strive to keep things in balance the best we can and not swing the pendulum too far.

When judging do you ever wonder what the pedigrees are on some of the animals or think I bet that one is a ……. ?
It doesn’t even cross my mind during the show. My mind can only handle so much … and I need to stay focused on getting the right lineup in place. After the show is over, then my curiosity heads in that direction on some of them.

What has been the biggest change in the ring since you were an exhibitor?
Beyond the fact that the pigs and showman have evolved a ton (both considerably better), the changes happen much faster!
