We Caught up with Ms. Mya Holderly, exhibitor of the Grand Champion Purebred Gilt and Barrow at the 2025 Winter National. Learn more about Mya below..

What was one challenge you had to overcome for this show?
It was challenging to keep all of my pigs ready and make sure I had everything done and ready at home and the shows. I showed 7 pigs at Perry so I was always busy! The weather in the winter is also always a challenge when it is too cold to walk them for a long time and prep for the shows.

What was the toughest assignment or class you had to catch up on?
Definitely my History and Math classes. We had a bunch of work and I had to make up exams in both of those classes.

Favorite thing about this particular show?
I love how laid back and fun the show is. This was my first national show I ever showed at in 2020 and we have been coming every year since! It is also very special to me because it was the first big show I got in the top 5 with!

One thing you loved about your winner?
My york gilt was named Saucy Santana and she always had her tounge out! She came off the slats when we got her so at first she was really spooked by everything but once she calmed down she was the sweetest pig and always loved attention. My hamp barrow was very special because we never really knew what to expect with him in the beggining. Blake and I always had faith in him and he always did everything we asked him to when we got to shows. He always ate and had a good attitude which is super nice!

Favorite celebration restaurant?
We normally go get mexican food at the shows or will get food delivered if we still have to get pigs ready for the show the next day! If we are at a show close to home we normally stop and get fast food somewhere.

Any particular family show traditions?
At every show I make a plan for each day so that I can keep track of everything I have to do. My friends and I also like to get coffee and breakfast most mornings at the shows which gets us ready for the day. I look forward to planning my outfits for the show with my friends as well!
