Some showpigs make life difficult — but Mason Albus said his Houston Reserve Champion Barrow was the exact opposite, becoming a barn favorite thanks to just how easy he was to feed and manage all season long.

Tell us a little bit about your champion:
This barrow was a Woke bred by Brockman Farms. He was one of our barn favorites all year and was an easy pig to feed!

Who is somebody that helped you achieve this win?
God, my parents, and Josh & Carrie Brockman. Josh & Carrie have trusted me with incredible livestock year after year. Their help and advice in the barn — and in life in general — mean the world to me.

What was the most challenging homework you had to make up?
I am homeschooled, so thankfully I’m able to make my school schedule fit my stock show schedule.

What was a challenge you had to overcome with your champion or at the show?
The main challenge with him was watching weight at the end. We really had to manage it a couple weeks before the show to make sure we had enough to get him right at the show.

What’s your go-to snack in the snack tub?
Goldfish.
