Tell us a little about your champion:
His name is Beetlejuice, and he is as sweet as a dog. We call him a diva because the littlest thing can set him off. He loves marshmallows and drinking out of the hose, but hates donuts and having wet legs.
The day leading up to the show are full of hard work . We spend them walking, washing, and getting the trailer ready. We always make sure our pigs look their very best before shows.
The moment I was selected champion it was like the world stopped. I had achieved something I have always dreamed of. Watching my friends and family high-five and hug in the back pens while I was presented my banner was the best feeling in the world.
Do you prefer summer or winter shows? Why?
I prefer summer shows because I have more time to get my pigs broke and ready for shows. Since Indiana’s winters are pretty brutal I don’t have much time to get my pigs broke outside. Also summer shows are just way more fun.
Who’s been your biggest influence?
My biggest influence is my older brother Gus. If it wasn’t for him we would never have started showing pigs in the first place. I have looked up to him my whole life. He has shown me what hard work and dedication looks like.
Do you and your family raise pigs?
My family and I do not raise pigs, we just show them.
What’s your favorite thing to do in the barn?
My favorite thing to do in the barn is just spend time with my pigs. I love building good connections with them. It helps them trust me and makes it easier in the show ring.
What’s your favorite thing to do in the summer?
My favorite thing to do in the summer is to go to pig shows. I spend most of my spring and summer at pigs shows. And there is no other way I would want to spend it.
