We Caught up with Ms. Macy Sonnek, exhibitor of the Grand Champion 4-H Market Gilt at the 2024 Minnesota State Fair. Learn more about Macy below..

What do you do to overcome your obstacles?
It’s really easy to get down on yourself in this industry so I think its important to take a step back every once in a while and think about all the things you have accomplished in this industry.

What is your favorite thing about your animal?
Guida is a really social pig. She always likes to have either someone by her or another pig by her. She is also really lazy!

What is one thing you had to overcome together?
My gilt has really sensitive skin so figuring out what products and shavings do not irritate her skin has been incredibly important.

What is at the top of your bucket list?
Winning the Minnesota State Fair was definitely at the top of my bucket list and it has been such a surreal experience. 

Favorite snack?
Cheez-its and Swedish fish.

Favorite show day breakfast?
Juneberry red bull for me and marshmallows for my gilt! I usually do not have a big appetite on show days.
