What made winning at this Show Special for you?
The thing that made winning at this show special for me was that it was the last time I could show this pig, and I really wanted to end on a high note. It being a national show that I have never been to just made it even more special.

Do you get nervous?
Yes, I get nervous because I never know what I’m going to get. For instance, I went to a show in Van Wert and got third in class, but then went to the American Royal and got 5th Overall.

If you could build your dream trailer what would it include?
If I could build my dream trailer, it would have a kitchen, a bathroom, and a bed (only for me). Most importantly it would have lots of pig pens. We have 8 kids in our family that show, so we are limited on what we get to bring. With lots of pens, we wouldn’t have to choose every time.

What was the most special thing about your champion?
The most special thing about my pig is that she was named Destiny and she literally was my destiny. I have never won this big at a national show. Our family motto is “Hard work pays off.” Destiny was able to prove this. We put in a lot of time and effort and the end result is someone’s opinion. At times it is easy to get discouraged or things keep stacking against you, but you have to have faith and keep working at it. Destiny definitely proved this lesson to me this year.

Most used product/item at a show in the showbox:
My most used item in the showbox is my whip because I use it to walk my pigs everywhere they go.

Who is your favorite judge? Why?
My favorite judge is AJ Williams. When I was younger, I had a Landrace that I showed at my county fair. I was the only one in my class. He studied my pig for a little bit and then held up the number two. I was confused at first, but then everyone started laughing and I finally caught on. He isn’t my favorite judge just because of this. He is also funny, nice, and loves everyone and everything about the swine industry.

Favorite breed to show? Why?
My favorite breed to show is Berks because they are sassy and have their moments, just like me. They also have a cute color pattern and are very loveable.

Favorite Pump Up Song:
My favorite pump-up song is Thunderstruck by AC/DC because every time we are going to a show, our family HAS to play it. Everyone in the truck gets excited.
