What was the most special part about your win?
Seeing a plan and everyone’s diligence pay off. It takes a team and it is so rewarding for goals to be accomplished together.
What is your favorite thing about your animal?
He is so unique as a light cross barrow. His feature, mobility and muscle expression is not typical of a light cross. Heimer’s knew he was extra special early and I am so proud to own Whitey and show him all season.
Does your animal have any quirks?
Whitey aka Polar Bear is very well tempered, easy to work with and loves tummy rubs. Unfortunately he has very sensitive skin and breaks out in rashes often. This makes maintaining his white skin and hair even harder, but I am committed to keeping him looking his best!
What is one thing you hope to accomplish by the end of your show career?
I hope to influence younger show kids and teach them all that I am learning. Passing success on to others and experiencing their wins is also really cool.
Who is your biggest role model?
My family who encourages me to try harder everyday and not settle for “good enough”. Sometimes I am hard on myself and they keep me calm and focused.
Favorite hobbies outside of showing livestock?
Basketball is my favorite sport and playing Xbox and grilling. But honestly almost all of my time is spent in the barns and at shows.
What is your pre-show routine?
Not a lot changes right before a show because our routines are set all season- but we do watch weights very closely and extend the time that pigs are exercising and out of their pens.
What are some of your showbox essentials?
Alpha whips, all the typical brushes and fittting supplies, zip ties !!!
