We caught up with Ms. Keelee Price, exhibitor of the Grand Champion Crossbred Gilt at the 2025 National Junior Show. Learn more about Keelee below…
Fun/Interesting fact about your champion
I decided to name my gilts after premier collegiate volleyball players. Andi comes from an outstanding litter raised by Team Sloan Livestock, where mate brothers are at two different boar studs.
Ever had a show ring fail? Tell us the story!
A few years ago, I had a spot barrow named Otis, who showed like a dream in the yard every night. However, when Otis entered the show ring, his spot attitude (IYKYK) was always on full display and he would refuse to show. I wanted to give him one more opportunity to show and ended up having to lead him around the show ring with him chasing vanilla wafers in my hand while I walked backwards in front of him. Needless to say, Otis retired after that show.
What’s your favorite non-livestock hobby?
Although I have many hobbies, aside from showing livestock, my favorite would have to be playing volleyball. I have loved volleyball since a very young age and play high school volleyball, as well as club volleyball. My hope is to continue to play the sport in college.
If your champion had a theme song, what would it be?
If Andi had a theme song, it would be “Hall of Fame” by The Script.
What’s the one thing in your show box you can’t live without?
The one thing in my show box I can’t live without is a good sprayer.
What do you enjoy most about the summer national shows?
The competitor in me loves having the opportunity to compete with some of the best livestock in the industry. I also enjoy meeting other exhibitors and breeders from across the country, while continuing to build upon my relationships with the exhibitors and breeders I already know.
