Tell us a little about yourself!
I’m from Roanoke Indiana. Alongside my wife Adrienne and three boys we own and operate Platt Showpigs and Upperhand Genetics. We are also co owners of thepigplanet.com. Graduated from Purdue University with a major in animal agribusiness.
Who got you involved in the livestock industry and how?
4-H was and is a big part of what got me involved showing multiple species. My parents and family always have had animals. NJSA was also a big part being a member from the start and big supporter to this day. My brother in law Sam Malcolm was the one that helped drive my passion for pigs at a young age.
Favorite State Fair Memory:
So many great memories – from our home state fair and others that have attended or judged. Anytime seeing families that do it right and win is an experience if we bred, placed or even when judging!!!
First State Fair ever judged:
Minnesota
Favorite Fair Food:
Million dollar steak tips and potatoes are hard to beat, other than having to hire a loan officer to pay for them.
Favorite Carnival Game:
None – Convinced they are all rigged after spending way too much money letting the boys try to win a goldfish
Favorite Carnival Ride:
Not much of a Carny man, a fun fact is Clay Zwilling use to work at the fair carnivals!!!
