Inside The Ring Showmanship Edition – Jenna Siegel
Sawtooth Supplements
Ms. Jenna Siegel will be sorting the Novice & Intermediate Swine Showmanship at the 2023 Team Purebred National Junior Show – Get to know a little about Jenna in the below interview, brought to you by YGB Livestock Camps!

Who got you involved in the livestock industry and how?
I am a sixth generation on both sides of my family involved in the industry. My dads family has a cow/calf operation, and my moms family fed out calves and raised pigs. I started showing livestock at age 3, and my stepdad, mom, sister and I raised and sold show pigs through our operation Isla Grande Farms

Where are you from and what brought you to where you currently live?
I grew up in Bucyrus, Ohio and currently reside in Mansfield, Illinois. I work at Compeer Financial in Bloomington and my fiancé and I run livestock here.

Biggest pet peeve in showmanship ring?
I am not a fan of brush carrying. In the junior show, you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do to get a hog stuck, but in showmanship I want it in your pocket. I also don’t like when you’re too heavy on the whip. The best showmen are effortless.

One of your favorite memories with your sibling?
2016 Ohio State Fair. We had about 25 hogs on feed that summer, and it was my sisters last state fair. We had supreme junior gilt and turned around a barrow in the top five the following week. We spent hours and hours in the barn, and that was a really special August in Columbus.

Favorite memory from a junior summer show:
I don’t have one specific memory that sticks out, but every year at World Pork Expo we and our Ohio friends always went out to dinner at the Machine Shed. The picture with the hampshire out front was a must!

What’s something you enjoy that doesn’t involve livestock?
Majority of my time is consumed by livestock, but outside of that I love spending time with family, working in my garden, and going to the gym.
