Tell us a little about yourself!
I reside in Port Lavaca, TX with my wife Hailey, who is our local Ag Extension Agent, and our 3 yr old son, Revyn. Our family runs about 80 showpig mommas which include crossbreds, berks, spots and durocs at the moment. We also farm corn, cotton and soybeans in the area. I spent my college years on judging teams at Blinn and Texas A&M and assisted with coaching duties at Texas A&M during grad school.
Who got you involved in the livestock industry and how?
My dad showed spots during his high school years and then raised hogs commercially when I was a kid. When I was 9, a neighbor friend talked him into letting me show a pig at the county fair. My life was forever changed.
Favorite State Fair Memory:
Being from Texas, our winter TX majors eclipse our State Fair to some degree but I’d have to say winning the judging contest there in college was a pretty neat feeling that I’ll never forget.
First State Fair ever judged:
Arizona
Favorite Fair Food:
Cinnamon Rolls
Favorite Carnival Game:
Can’t say I ever make it to the carnival
Favorite Carnival Ride:
Depends, but simply put: the faster, the better! I love a thrill!
