We caught up with Mr. Austin Langemeier before he steps “Inside the Ring” to sort the 2025 California State Fair. Learn more about Austin below!

What’s the most memorable class you’ve ever judged and why?
Beginner showmanship at a county fair. A young man’s mom was yelling for him to get the judges attention and he ditched his pig and his whip and started dancing to get my attention. Better believe he caught a pen.

What’s one thing you appreciate seeing from exhibitors?
Win with humility and lose with grace. Having respect, and a positive attitude while being a fierce competitor is the best combination.

If you weren’t involved in livestock, what would you be doing?
Enjoy hanging out with the family. Also, love to fish in the summer and pheasant hunt in the fall.

Have you had a “full-circle” moment – like judging a show you once exhibited at?
I really enjoyed the opportunity to sort at the Exposition. I was once the Team Purebred Junior Board President, so to get to sort the Team Purebred barrows at a show I competed at throughout my years of showing was special.

Favorite fair food?
Getting indoctrinated to the northern way of living, cheese curds.
