Tell us a little about your champion:
Her name is Banana. Her mom, Pepper, was my grand gilt from our county fair 2 years ago. We farrowed her in our show barn. We tried to give her away as a feeder pig but nobody wanted her. Turns out she was pretty good.
Long days in the barn and yard.
It was a super special moment to win my first national show with a gilt we raised. I was excited and a little bit shocked.
Do you prefer summer or winter shows? Why?
Summer shows. There are more local shows to get to and I don’t like to walk pigs in the cold and snow!
Who’s been your biggest influence?
I’ve had a lot of good mentors and influences that have helped me, but my biggest would have to be my Dad.
Do you and your family raise pigs?
We are a large sow operation of one Berkshire. 😉
What’s your favorite thing to do in the barn?
t’s definitely not scooping poop, so I’ll have to go with feeding.
What’s your favorite thing to do in the summer?
Show pigs, swim, and spend July 4th in Louisville.
