We caught up with Hayden Everhart to talk about the champion that made this season one to remember.
Tell us a little bit about your champion:
She was a special pig. She was raised by Beyers Farms and was special the second she got in our barn. I’d be lying if I said she was the nicest, but we got along just fine. She was always the freakiest pig we had and was very exciting to watch grow.
Who is somebody that helped you achieve this win?
My brother, dad, and mom deserve a shoutout for sure. Brody fed this set and did an incredible job — he always helped during my busy basketball season, too, and I know it killed him not to be there with me. Travis Platt was a huge help at the show, getting her feeling better and eating before show day. And a big thanks to Crosby Jackman for helping get her from Beyers and into our barn.
What was the most challenging homework you had to make up?
The most challenging homework I had to make up was algebra. To make my life easier, I actually did most of it over Christmas break before I left — which was not fun.
What was a challenge you had to overcome with your champion or at the show?
The biggest challenge was that she didn’t eat or drink anything for about three days leading up to show day. She decided to cooperate on show day and looked pretty good thanks to the crew there and some help from the Denver crew.
What’s your go-to snack in the snack tub?
One hundred percent my go-to snack is Brownie Brittle. I get one every time we go to Cracker Barrel, and it’s gone immediately — unbeatable.
