We Caught up with Mr. Guy Hayes, exhibitor of the Grand Champion Market Hog at the 2025 LSU Livestock Show. Learn more about Guy below..
What was one challenge you had to overcome for this show?
Being a senior and knowing this was my last show was a personal challenge. We are a very competitive family so knowing it was my last try was tough for me during the show week.
What was the toughest assignment or class you had to catch up on?
My toughest classes to catch up on were Advanced Math and World History.
Favorite thing about this particular show?
This show is a chance to spend time with my friends and breeders from across the state. It is also a time when out of state breeders attend and I enjoy getting to network with them.
One thing you loved about your winner?
This show pig has been an underdog of our show string this season. I loved that I never gave up on her potential to succeed in the end.
Favorite celebration restaurant?
We love to eat at Mike Andersons seafood and steakhouse. They have the best chargrilled oysters in Louisiana. This restaurant is known for their seafood dishes.
Any particular family show traditions?
A tradition our family has had for at least twenty years is eating out after the state showings over. Our family and extended family all go to Sno’s or Mike Andersons for a relaxing meal once the stress of the shows are done. It has become such that we have to rent a room at the restaurant to fit us all in. Our group has easily reached 20-30 of us wanting to spend time and celebrate our show season.
