We Caught up with Mr. Grady Lowry, exhibitor of the Supreme Champion Purebred Gilt at the 2025 San Antonio Stock Show. Learn more about Grady below..
What was one challenge you had to overcome for this show?
The biggest challenge was getting to the show. I am also a catcher on my Varsity baseball team and we had our first game the night before and live 6 hours away. My grandpa took me to meet my mom halfway really early the next morning after the game.
What was the toughest assignment or class you had to catch up on?
Probably Algebra 2 or English both are hard to keep up in while I am gone so much showing in the spring.
Favorite thing about this particular show?
I have always liked San Antonio but this year was really neat because my best friend was able to be there. He doesn’t show animals and hasn’t ever been to a major show with us but was able to be there this year for my win!
One thing you loved about your winner?
That she was a spot! Spot pigs have always been my favorite breed to show. I actually won the spot gilts last year at San Antonio too.
Any particular family show traditions?
Not really a tradition but my sister and I have shown pigs together since I was in Kindergarten and she was in first grade. This is what our family does and it has been really neat winning as a family during our last year of showing together.
