We Caught up with Ms. Emma Ott exhibitor of the Grand Champion NJSA Breeding Gil at the 2024 NJSA Winter National. Learn more about Emma below…
What was one difficult challenge you faced to get this win?
My pig threw a fit on the way to the show ring and refused to walk out of the barn and into the sunshine. I was almost late to class!
What is one thing you dislike the most about showing pigs?
Retiring pigs out of the show barn at the end of the season and sending them to their new homes.
One thing you enjoy the most:
I enjoy doing skin and hair on my pigs so they look perfect in the show ring!
Something new you tried:
I tried a new skin and hair routine this winter since I couldn’t regularly wash them.
Besides being named Grand Champion, what was another memorable moment for you?
Traveling down to Perry, Georgia with friends and family for the Winter National.
Somebody you look up to:
I looked up to the older girls in my county when I was younger. They taught me to work hard and become a better showman. I also have a mentor that gives advice and coaches me to be my best!
