Tell us a little about your champion:
Her name is Marge and she’s a mama tried from Heimer. She was one of the last pigs we added to this set and she’s always been a little quirky. Like all of our Heimer pigs she wags her tail like nonstop and she’s always had the personality of an old grumpy sow though she never gives me an attitude.
Pretty busy. We spend a lot of time packing the trailer and getting the barn ready for whoever is going to be doing chores for us, and we never end up packing our own clothes and stuff till the last minute.
I was super happy, when she was selected for reserve breed I was kind of shocked, we knew we liked our pig but we thought she might not be quite mature enough to make it to the drive at a National, but once the judges talked her we went into the grand drive thinking we had a decent shot at getting in top 5 though i was still nervous but when it happened my nerves relieved and I was just happy.
Do you prefer summer or winter shows? Why?
Summer for sure. I absolutely hate winter and the cold and everything about it. I’d rather be sweating everywhere than in any temperatures below 30.
Who’s been your biggest influence?
Definitely my sister kalin and brother in law jackson Johnson. They took me under their wings and have been the reason I’m where I am in the industry today, we all grew up in it but they’ve taught me about everything I know , taken me to places I thought I’d never go, and made all my wins possible. I look up to them for everything.
Do you and your family raise pigs?
Yes. My dad has always had plenty of sows around, and just recently kalin and jackson have been establishing a herd of their own.
What’s your favorite thing to do in the barn?
I really like to bond with my pigs. Wether it be sitting in their pens when they’re babies and taming them down, or taking breaks after walking in the yard to give some belly rubs or take some pictures
What’s your favorite thing to do in the summer?
I really like summer road trips wether I’m going to a show or not
