What was the most special part about your win?
CPS was our first National show and it was an unforgettable one. After winning 3rd overall York gilt on Tuesday, I prayed Wilson, my chester white barrow, would do even better the next day. I wanted to be back in the final drive. The CPS Grand Overall Drive is an exciting atmosphere. Its the lights, the music, the smoke and most of all the intense competition of showing pigs.
What is your favorite thing about your animal?
Wilson is my first chester white barrow. I love how stout and big legged he is!
Does your animal have any quirks?
YES! He has a very spicy attitude when it comes to having to return to the show ring a second time. When we wants attention or is mad he makes a noise that sounds like a squeaky dog toy.
What is one thing you hope to accomplish by the end of your show career?
If there is one thing I could accomplish by the end of my show career, it would be to win the Iowa State Fair Market Hog Show.
Who is your biggest role model?
My biggest role model is my dad. He has helped me learn time management, decision making and responsibility. But the most valuable life lesson he has helped me learn is how to accept defeat and overcome frustrations when things aren’t going well. He has provided me so many opportunities to learn, network and build my future.
Favorite hobbies outside of showing livestock?
I love playing basketball and doing anything with my little brother.
What is your pre-show routine?
First, I put on my lucky underwear and then have a healthy diet of fruit snacks, doritios, sour patch kids watermelon candy and if available, chicken strips, which can be warmed up after the show at the hotel.
What are some of your showbox essentials?
Besides the basics, a whip and brush, I like to use dove body wash, brightening or whitening shampoo, champions choice or jimmy shine, and powderful.
Gilts or Barrows?
Either. I just like showing pigs! I enjoy showing gilts and keeping them and making them show mommas, but its also fun to make a good run with a barrow.
Tennis Shoes or Boots?
Tennis Shoes.
Cats or Dogs?
Dogs by a landslide!
Summer shows or winter shows?
Summer shows and spring jackpots.
Favorite Breed?
Yorkshire or Chester White
