We caught up with Mr. Blane Olson before he steps “Inside the Ring” to sort the Barrows at the 2023 Ohio State Fair Junior Show. Learn more about Blane below!

Tell us a little about yourself!
I’m a grain and livestock farmer with my wife Kristi, parents and cousin Alex and his family in central Illinois.  We raise corn and soybeans, purebred Durocs and commercial hogs. Also, Kristi and I have Braden, Kelten, Luke, Coley and boy number four coming in September.

Who got you involved in the livestock industry and how?
My parents

Favorite State Fair Memory:
We had a red barrow in the mid 90s that I showed that got close.  He ended to reserve red and 4th overall.

First State Fair ever judged:
Ohio open barrows

Favorite Fair Food:
Pork twister at Illinois pork patio

Favorite Carnival Ride:
I’m more of a keep my two feet on the ground kind of guy
