In your opinion, what is the most challenging thing when judging shows?
I think keeping a consistent tempo throughout the day is challenging. The balance of being efficient and giving the kids their time is as important as ever.

What is a nonnegotiable for you when judging?
Good skin and hair. Hard work at home goes a long way when it comes to getting an extra look.

What is the most memorable show you’ve sorted?
Hog College Barrow Show at Black Hawk East was the first show to go on my bucket list in college. An experience I’ll tell my grandkids about.

When someone says that’s an “Isaak Beaman” pig, what qualities does it have?
Bone, look, and chest.

Biggest pet peeve in the ring?
Rough surfaces. Don’t put pigs on mulch.
