Nathan Day
Westfield, Indiana • The Exposition Bred and Owned Gilts
What part of the show are you looking forward to the most and why?
I’m looking forward to sweating in the beautiful Des Moines heat and humidity.
For real though, I’m looking forward to this show truly “feeling” like Expo now that it’s in Des Moines again. I loved that it was in Indy for my commute, but there’s just something about the Iowa State Fairgrounds that makes it feel more nostalgic and memorable.
What’s one thing you can’t go without when judging a show?
Hydration and a bathroom that isn’t two counties away. And a good PA system is wildly underrated.
Your favorite national summer show memory?
Thankful for a lot of great memories at summer shows. Hard to pin down just one…
– The circumstance certainly wasn’t my favorite, but when our son Henry was in the ICU in 2019, before his grand drive speech at NJSS, Brian Arnold prayed over the mic for Henry and our family. I will never forget that moment for as long as I live.
– Cody Reichart: scooter vs bucket
– Having way too much fun after winning the boar show or having the high-selling boar at CPS a couple of times
– Watching Clay Z fall through the stage at the Sunglo booth
– Shrimp boils at the Sunglo booth
– Watching Miles Toenyes take his shirt off to fight a dude
– Watching Miles Toenyes tear his ACL at The Deuce
Besides shows, what’s something else you look forward to during the summer?
Going to the lake with my family.
