What is your favorite Expo memory?
As a middle age swine enthusiast,  I remember when the World Pork Expo was held in Indianapolis in 1994. This was before the NJSA and was primarily the pork industry trade show and an open breeding show. There was a major industry push for increasing awareness around lean pork and so there was a competition where any attendee could enter in which the context is to evaluate a set of live hogs to estimate the “lean value” on foot. Those hogs were harvested and the cut out data was collected. The winner of the contest won a brand new 3/4 ton Ford pick-up and I was fortunate to win. That was a memorable phone call from Ernie Barnes who shared the good news! Second prize was a honey wagon.

What is the most memorable boar/gilt/barrow from Expo?
Kyle Pullen’s Duroc barrow named Hammer in 2009. It was a memorable summer watching that barrow “curb-stomp” his way through Indiana jackpots shown by a great young farm boy from Walton, IN. He was raised by Steve Malcolm another good dude from Indiana.
