We caught up with Mr. Troy Sloan after he judged the Market Barrow Show at the 2025 Oklahoma Youth Expo. Check out his thoughts below…

What breed stood out as the toughest and deepest?
The Hampshires were the best and deepest breed in my opinion. The Good ones just kept coming!

What’s one thing you wish this generation of showmen needs to be more aware of?
The first thing that comes to my mind is don’t take winning or just the general experience of showing for granted. Thank your parents or whoever makes it possible for you to get to do what you do. Also time will fly by so enjoy it.

When judging do you ever wonder what the pedigrees are on some of the animals or think I bet that one is a ……. ?
This sure does cross my mind at times.

Any funny encounters throughout the day?
Honestly, not really which may be a first. I did have several snap chats of my buddies making fun of me on Walton Webcasting which is pretty common.

What has been the biggest change in the ring since you were an exhibitor?
 I would have to say the hair. I’m old enough to remember when we use to shave them. Now, as a show judge I talk about hair often.
